The Prototype Fund Hardware is part of the research project MoFab, which is managed by the Open Knowledge Foundation Germany as well as three other partners – funded by the WIR! initiative of the BMBF. One goal of the project is to develop a framework for a funding program that promotes open hardware in the long term. We also want to give open hardware more visibility overall and bring together the community in this field.
Individuals and small (interdisciplinary) teams can receive financial and non-material support from us for testing ideas and developing open source hardware.
