MNT Reform
The project makes the computer understandable and repairable.
What problem is being solved and how?
The computer is the gateway to the Internet and the processor of sensitive data. Glued housings and firmly soldered as well as undocumented components make the devices opaque and make it difficult to change and repair them. The MNT Reform is designed to change this and comes fully documented, without built-in monitoring technologies (such as microphone or camera). In addition, the components are installed in such a way that they can be easily replaced – such as individual battery cells.
Why is it a good example?
The MNT Reform is among the first devices we know of that combines all dimensions of Open Hardware in a good way, such as an open design, great documentation, repairability, support for free software, as well as appealing aesthetics.
How you can support
Currently working on a more compact version. You can buy the current version and other great stuff in the MNT Research shop.
